Tim was asked to reinvent a garden in Central London that was dominated by a large area of artificial grass! The brief was to make it wildlife-friendly and biodiverse, low-maintenance yet colouful and exciting.
As the site is open and sunny with relatively dry ground, Tim decided to create a Mediterranean-style gravel garden. After removing the artificial turf and laying a porous weed-stopping liner, he planted a palette of sun-loving herbs, grasses and perennials, surrounded by beautiful pebbles of all sizes and colours. Tim then placed a lovely mature olive tree and a corten steel pond feature into the garden. A green wall was planted down the side of the house, to be seen from within.
Where once there was largely plastic, now there are bees, dragonflies and frogs!
